Lyles Mechanical Co.

"It is our duty to live up to the expectations of our business associates by giving full value for value received."

W. M. "Bill" Lyles, Sr.
(1910 - 1965), Founder

Lyles Mechanical History

W.M (Bill) Lyles started in business for himself in Avenal, California, on January 2, 1945, when, with Elizabeth's help, he began furnishing crews to the oil companies for work in the oil fields. On June 24, 1946 the organization was incorporated as W.M. Lyles Co., with Bill and Elizabeth as equal shareholders.

By 1949, the Company's operations had expanded into Visalia, Fresno, and San Luis Obispo. This increased field activity required additional office space and people. This challenge was met by construction of a permanent and spacious office building on Skyline Boulevard in Avenal. During the first 22 years of business, all the field work in and around the Avenal area was conducted from these offices, in addition to their being the headquarters and administrative center of the Company.

After the beginning in oil field work, followed closely by farm trenching and gas mains and services, the Company rapidly expanded into all phases of underground construction including water, sewer, steel pipe, electrical and telephone conduit, drainage, and irrigation lines, and performed work throughout most of the State of California, with operational capacity in several adjacent states.

In 1967, the Company headquarters were moved to their present site at 1210 West Olive Avenue, in Fresno. On January 1, 1984, reorganization took place which assigned a newly formed corporation, with the continuing name of W.M. Lyles Co., all of the underground construction operations. The Company continued to expand its capability into sewer and water treatment plants, pump stations, and ethanol plants. In order to continue to grow in the many aspects of construction that we have shown to be successful and to fully take advantage of the markets we have entered, another re-organization took place on January 1, 2008.

Lyles Mechanical Co. was formed to fully develop the mechanical and industrial markets, both public and private, throughout California. The team of estimators, project managers, skilled craftsmen, and support staff that have been assembled are the best in the business and are continuing to excel as a proud member of the Lyles Construction Group.
